Organizational Practice

Schedules, PD, and decision-making are oriented toward learners and equity. School organization clearly supports broad and sustained reflection and collaboration.'

Classroom Organization
Below are picture representations of how I organize my day. We have the freedom to manipulate the schedule as needed without affecting encore, band, and lunch times. This schedule is often fluid, but for the most part this is how it is laid out daily.
Reading Rotations and Content
Monday is a heavy breakdown of skills and vocabulary for the week. We really dive into what the skills are and the meanings of the words that we will read. We use our context clues to help us identify the words' meaning and then pick an 'art' to represent the meaning of one word (art, theatre, music, dance).
Data Notebooks
The students have their data notebooks in which they organize and house all of their graded content. They also set goals every marking period as they reflect on their grades. I have also included how we record and set goals with our running records. I share these with parents during conferences or as needed.
